What is a Highland Games?

Highland Games are traditional Scottish events that celebrate the country’s rich cultural heritage through athletic competitions, music, and dance. Rooted in ancient clan gatherings, these games feature iconic events like caber tossing, hammer throwing, and tug-of-war, alongside Highland dancing, bagpipe performances, and local festivities. Set against the stunning backdrop of Scotland’s landscapes, Highland Games are a vibrant showcase of strength, skill, and community spirit, drawing participants and spectators from around the world.

We also have a great area of fun activities for all the family - including crafts and games, free of charge, kindly provided by the fabulous team at Lochcarron Sailing Club. We also have races for younger participants that will take place during the day on the main arena track.
